1/3 scale Grunau Baby IIb by Schneider - Airbrakes
The airbrakes also are assembled from CNC-liteply parts : The kit contains no hardware to assemble, how to do it, and what materials to use for this, is up to the builder.
I used brass tubing, in the airbrake arms, sleeves of brass tubing are installed, these then rotate on shafts, also made out of brass tubing.
These shafts are attached to a plywood backplate, which is glued to the back of the mainspar, and the airbrakes are installed :
The airbrake bay is then built around the installed airbrake
Here the completed installation, on the l/h wing, the previous pictures are from the airbrake installation on the r/h wing.
For testing purposes, a Hitec HS-525BB is installed but the airbrakes will be operated by Hitec HS-475 HB's
I decided to modify the spoiler servo installation.
Here now the modified spoiler servo installation, the reason to change the setup, was, that with the previous setup, I would have had to increase the size of the sheeting around the spoiler bay, in order to be able to "hide" the servo under the sheeting. An added benefit is, that this way the pushrods are much shorter.
Upper sheeting on the spoiler bay installed, the picture to the right shows the lower sheeting, and the cover for the
servo bay, lower spoiler still needs to be faced.
